Our Troop equipment needs some TLC. We have therefore added two new events have been added to the calendar:
- 4pm Saturday 9/12/26 - 7:30am Sunday 9/13/26: Troop Equipment Lock In We will be pulling out all Troop Equipment to clean, inspect, organize. Pizza provided (bring $5). After gear is sorted, we will have a lock in to play games
- 6:30-8:30pm Thursday 9/13/26: Be Prepared night QM and Patrol Leader night to pack the trailer with equipment for the weekend campout.
Popcorn Fundraiser Season is underway! Reach out to our Troop Popcorn Kernel Debra Bunch if you have any questions! She plans to be at Monday Troop meetings as well as Friday game nights!
As mentioned previously, John Pratt, Chris Knight's Grandpa and former ASM from T133 (and a LONG history of scouting) passed away in June. His family will be hosting a celebration of life on Sunday 9/13/26 at 3:30pm at Camp Belzer. The Troop will be participating in the opening ceremony. For 2027, it looks to be a canoe based activity, so we will need adults trained in the Voyageur Canoe program. It's open to youth too! - Fall course is full (September). - Spring dates May 1-2 and May 15-16 2027 (both weekends required). https://www.troop133indy.com/node/11785
For 2028, Scouts have expressed interest in Sea Base for spring break 2028 and Philmont for summer 2028. These two trips require 15-21 months advanced reservation, so we need to begin planning now.
Registration allows us to: - Choose trek duration (7, 9, 12 day) - Choose start/end dates
To do that, we need soft commitments from youth and adults and to identify two adult crew advisors. Crews can be 8-12 people with the following restrictions: - Youth 14 yo or 13 and have completed 8th grade (Eagle Patrol and older will be eligible) - Adults: at least 3 adults per crew, no more than 4. Must have more youth than adults - in 2024, we had two crews, so we will likely have that again - Strict BMI limits - ~$2,500/person (cost was $1,850 in 2024, but fees have gone up by $250)
SEA BASE We will need to sign up for 2028 Sea Base reservations which opens early January 2027. We typically have enough interest to fill the largest boat (20 capacity) over Washington Township spring break. Sea Exploring Adventure. https://seabaseha.org/adventure/sea-exploring/
We are also exploring moving the Sea Base adventure to summer 2028, or offering to adventures (either spring and summer, or two in summer). Summer boats tend to be smaller than spring, so we'll like need two boats if we move entirely to summer. More info to come.

Adult Training Opportunity - Winter 2027 Wood Badge
As we already know, camp isn’t just for scouts. : ) Come earn your Wood Badge in 2027! Wood Badge is the ultimate leadership adventure for Scouting adults. Over five days, you’ll dive into servant leadership, conflict resolution, team building, and project planning—all while sharing laughs, learning, being in nature, having a blast, and making lifelong friends. The scouts and adults had a great time at Mystery History. Mystery revealed: overnight camp at Fairchild Farms, and spent the day with French and Indian War reenactors at Billie Creek Village.
OA Summer Ordeal was also a success, thanks to those who participated. And congratulations to our newest Ordeal member, Liam G!

National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) is an action-packed program designed to provide Scouts with leadership skills and experience they can use in their home units and in other situations demanding leadership of self and others. This program is the centerpiece of the council’s youth training opportunities, providing local units with outstanding youth leaders and giving those participants the tools and leadership ideals that will serve them well in whatever they do.
Crossroads of America Council offers NYLT over a two weekend course format that can be attended in spring or in fall. For the two weekend courses participants must attend both weekends to complete their training.

Our beloved ASM John Pratt passed away on Friday. Mr Pratt was active in Scouts BSA for most of his life, and was a firm believer in the power of the scouting program to change the lives of youth. He served as ASM for T133/T1033 from 2019-2025, and advised the PLC youth leadership every Monday, alongside David Waldman. Prior to T133/T1033, John served in numerous roles in other units including Scoutmaster, and at the district and council level. As a youth, John earned Eagle in 1964, and as an adult he earned the District Award of Merit in 1980, Wood Badge beads (Eagle Patrol) in 1980, Firecrafter Minisino honor in 1981, Silver Beaver in 1992, and Order of the Arrow Vigil in 2013. Mr Pratt gave memorable Scoutmaster minutes to our youth, and was an inspiration to both youth and adults. He will be sorely missed.
