Troop - Monday 9/27/2021

Posted on Sep 27 2021 - 9:17am

Troop Families,

Thanks to all the adults and scouts who helped sort through Patrol gear this past Saturday.  We now have 10 Patrol Boxes fully stocked with clean equipment!  One step closer to assigning a full set of equipment assigned to each Patrol which should make outings run smoother.

Tonight we have our planning meeting for our upcoming October Troop - Flash Mob - Camporee.
Webelos and AOLs from Pack 200 and Pack 282 are invited, so there will be some new faces, and a bit more chaos.
The campout will be focused on setting up a lot of historical Troop gear/equipment (large dining flys, gateways built of poles and lashings, a TeePee, rope making machine).  Plus competition for tent setup/take down (so we can also see which tents need repairing).

Please RSVP prior to tonight's meeting if you plan to attend the campout this weekend (or even if you don't plan to attend), so that the patrols are prepared to discuss menu planning and program planning.  We typically require two weeks advanced notice for RSVPing, but last week was a parent meeting so we are extending the deadline to today.  As of now, we have 16 scouts and 13 adults RSVPed.

Patrols will be cooking dutch oven dinners Saturday night, so have each scout bring a favorite dutch oven recipe tonight so they can choose among their patrols.

If your scout has their Patrol Flag, bring it tonight.  We will start incorporating those into meetings and outings.  Some patrols do not have flags yet, so we will spend time in an upcoming meeting/outing to make them.

Reminder for upcoming schedule:
Monday 10/3 - PLC and Parent Meeting
Monday 10/11 - Fall Break Washington Township (no meeting)
Monday 10/18 - Court of Honor (have all advancement recorded by Friday 10/8). Don't worry, if your scout misses this deadline, we will have another COH in February.

Troop 133/1033 - Meeting 9/13/2021

Posted on Sep 13 2021 - 11:35am

Troop families

- T133 will be planning this weekend's outing for Mystery History.  Scouts will be working on menu planning and a dutch oven cook off.  Program will be part of the "mystery".
Reminder for scouts attending, please fill out the waiver on the calendar event (it wasn't added until recently so many of you will need to go back into the calendar event to fill it out).  While we do aim to have all signups two weeks prior each event, given that last week was a holiday and we had no meeting, signups will close later today just before the meeting tonight

- T1033 will be planning their own adventure and recruitment campout at Kotweewi park at the ropes course for this weekend.

- We will also have a short turnaround (two weeks) to our next outing on 10/1/21-10/3/21. The October event will require some extensive planning by youth and adults that will occur over the next two weeks.  We will also need many hands at our October event to help setup the historic Troop gear.

- Note for scouts and families.  We will have our fall Court of Honor (COH) on Monday 10/18/2021.  Scouts could aim to complete their next Rank Advancement by then.  Encourage them to work on requirements at home and come prepared to a meeting or campout to show their work to an ASM.  We may also be able to plan our October campout program to cover some rank requirements for Tenderfoot/Second Class/First Class requirements.

- If any scouts are interested in helping to support the Cub Scout Pack 200/282 bike rodeo, have them talk to Gary tonight so we can discuss details.

Jack Ferguson is officially an Eagle Scout!

Adults and Scouts

If anyone has photos from outings this past year, let's start storing those in a Google Drive so that the Historian can draw from those to put together short slide shows for Court of Honors.  Reach out to Gary Port or Clint Winkler and we will provide you access to the account.

No Meeting - Labor Day

Posted on Sep 6 2021 - 11:11am

Troop families,

- Reminder, there is no meeting on Monday 9/6/2021.

- Advancement Night:
Thanks to all the adults who assisted with advancement night last week!  We had an incredible 35 rank advancement requirements recorded in TroopMaster, most of the scouts books have been caught up with signatures, several Merit Badge discussions took place, and a board of review!  The Troop appreciates all of your help.

- Adult Leader Training:
A special shout out to all the adults who are enrolled in fall 2021 Wood Badge!  Between the Holt House Packs and Troops, our Units collectively have 8 adults attending Wood Badge this fall! Looking forward to watching the benefits and growth our units and youth will see as a direct outcome of adult leader training.

There is still time to sign up for University of Scouting in November.  This is an opportunity to get trained in IOLS (intro to outdoor leader skills) a requirement to become an Assistant Scoutmaster.
